My Patio
               I sit within your aged brick walls
                 secure from strident life;
                I see the tall and  lovely oaks
                  'way in the soft sunlight.
                 I hear the sound of chirping birds,
                   now near, now faraway;
                   theirs is the music of the air,
                    the symphony of the day.
                   The sun shines through the
                     stirring  leaves,
                      the air is cool and sweet.
                      A yellow butterfly drifts by
                     to make the scene complete.
                    The sky, the trees, the  gentle
                      breeze, I thank you all today;
                     you bring a message
                     to my heart from those who have
                     gone away.
